We are seeking a highly skilled Network Automation Engineer to join our DevSecOps team at BackBox. As a Network Automation Engineer, you will play a critical role in proactively developing, testing and maintaining our automation solutions. You will work closely with team members across the Development organization to ensure our automation offerings are robust, reliable, secure and up-to-date with the latest industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Automation Development: Create, test, optimize, and maintain automations for network and security devices, including backup, restore, configuration, monitoring, and upgrade processes.
• Vendor Research: Monitor and research top vendor and security forums to identify new automation opportunities and enhance existing solutions.
• Professional Services: Collaborate with our Professional Services team to develop custom automations tailored to specific customer needs.
• Bug Fixes and Maintenance: Identify and resolve issues in existing automations; ensure the automation library is updated to support the latest versions of devices.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the Automation Lab Engineer to align automation testing and development with overall company goals.

• Experience in Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash is required.
• Network and Security Knowledge: Strong understanding of networks and security devices, including experience with one or more major vendors such as Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet, etc.
• Linux Environment: Proven experience working in Linux environments, with a deep understanding of system administration and automation tools.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to automation and device compatibility.
• Proactive Mindset: Strong initiative to identify areas for improvement and take ownership of automation projects.
• Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience in relevant technologies.
• Vendor-Specific Experience: Hands-on experience with devices from major network and security vendors (e.g., Cisco, Check Point, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
• Experience in Automation Testing: Familiarity with automation testing frameworks and practices.
